Christmas/School Holidays - We are officially in November and all wondering how? There are only 5 weeks left in the school year, and now is the time to start thinking about additional support over the school holidays. The Castle day program will end Friday 22 December 2023 and restart Monday 8 January 2024. The Castle will still be available for participants for 1:1 care as well as for respite, as will Sunflower House. We continue to offer in-home supports and community access also. Please be aware of higher rates for Public Holidays (6pm Sunday 24 December to midnight Tuesday 26 December)
Staff Availability/Leave - If you will not be available to work over the Christmas/New Year Period (or wish to take any leave over December/January) you must submit your leave now. Unless you are sick, Amanda will not be accepting late leave applications after 04 December.
Christmas Shut Down - The Precious Angels Brisbane Office will officially close from 5pm Friday 22 December 2023 and re-open Monday 8 January 2024. Our Brisbane Staff Christmas Party is on Friday 24 November at Eat Street Hamilton. We will hold a staff social in December for Secret Santa (date TBC)
Precious Angels Office Hours are 8:30am – 4:30pm Monday to Friday. If the office is closed, please contact the afterhours number (0421 521 750).
The afterhours phone is shared between Amanda and Dillon during the week and Kayla on weekends.

Another fortnight has flown past! Apple has again put on exciting and fun activities for our Castle participants, and on Tuesday for Melbourne Cup we encourage all attendees to dress in their fancy finest!
We will put on a Melbourne Cup lunch and watch the running of the cup, listening to the excitment of horse hooves pounding the turf and the crowds cheering.
Apple's program for next week involves some outings around Brisbane (weather permitting) to enjoy the spring flowers and sunshine, as well as fun sensory indoor activities.
Sunflower house has a trampoline, and our participants are having lots of fun visting here now. The internet is working, so the PS4 games work, as do our streaming services, and the large yard means there is lots of room for outdoor fun also.
Dillon and I will be contacting more families to arrange face to face visits to get the boring but essential paperwork updated (Service Agreements, Schedule of Supports and Individual Support Plans). Its also a nice way for us to meet with families and have important talks about participant goals and how the teams are working towards implementing goal achievement.
Hoping for some good soaking rain this weekend - our poor city is so dry - and I think our fire fighters will appreciate some help too.
Stay safe
Amanda

Our Angel Award goes to our resident decorator, she's got style, she's got flair.... it's Mel!
Mel strives to engage with her participants in a meaningful way, planning out their goal success with a wide variety of activities to engage their imagination and bring joy where ever she goes.
