From the desk of Amanda
Precious Angels continue to grow and learn. We continue to train our support workers in every aspect of support work, and encourage their growth and development. Our support workers are our daily success story writers, and are our marketing team out there in the community, show-casing their amazing selves for the world to see. Our business growth is through word of mouth, and that is because we have a large team of amazing, kind, generous and loving Angels. I am very proud of the culture, and our ability to maintain a caring, family environment through the growth and transformation of the past year.
The Castle continues to grow and that is through the leadership of our Castle Coordinator extraordinaire Apple. The Castle expansion will continue in 2024, and we are proud to announce we are reaching capacity for at least 2 days a week! Apple will be using Sunflower House as well as Community Outings to faciliate our growth in 2024. Its been just over a year, and The Castle needs to be bigger! Amazing.
Sunflower House still has capactiy for families needing respite, and we anticipate this need will continue to grow in 2024.
I still dream of a SIL/SDA home for our growing young adults. The board of directors have this in their 5 year plan, but we'd still like to make this a reality sooner.
The Castle group booking rates will change as of 1 January 2024. Many of our Castle Crew families are already familiar with the new NDIS pricing structure, and we will be implementing this also. I will be reaching out to our Castle Families to finalise details in the coming weeks.
If you are in the area, Wynnum Fringe Festival has started and there are lots of wonderful, free, community events along the foreshore in the coming weeks.
Have a great weekend
Amanda
Special Group Therapy
In the coming year we are looking at working with a Speechy, Sheree, on Mondays to help deliver NDIS goals more effectively. At the moment we are trying to gauge interest and attendance. If you think that your child/teenager/young adult would from this please contact the After Hours phone.
@The Castle
Over the past fortnight, our participants had a blast splashing in the water, exploring sensory activities, and celebrating Melbourne Cup with their Castle friends—joyful moments filled with laughter and connection
A special Happy Birthday to Connor:
We were happy to celebrate Connor turning 20 on Monday.
We all sang a special birthday song for him and we shared some cake around with all of his Castle friends :)
Out with the Angels
We've embarked on heaps of activities with our participants, ensuring they engage in things they love, to help them acheive their goals.
Our goal is to create meaningful moments, making each experience as memorable as possible.
Don't forget to check facebook for photos too.
Photo of the Week
Part of what we aim for is engaging our participants in a variety of activities, so this fortnight's photo is Lily enjoying the colours of the rainbow during group sensory play.
Angel of the Fortnight
Angel is receiving the Angel Award this newsletter.
Angel makes significant connections with all his participants, taking time to engage and understand their needs.
He works with many different participants and brings a great attitude every time he cares. If you've got Angel as a carer you're guaranteed to have a fun time.
