Angel Archives - 31/08/2023

September Castle Theme - On Monday 04 September we're holding an inclusive "Silent Disco" with our Castle participants. September has a Spring flower theme and we'll be venturing out to Roma St Parklands and focusing on our senses of smell and hearing.

New Respite House - we are very excited to introduce SUNFLOWER House. This is located in Sunnybank Hills, and is a delightful 3 bedroom, 2 bathroom home with a beautiful, securely fenced back yard. We will hold a staff BBQ on Thursday 14 September as a "house warming". Families are welcome to join, or come and inspect anytime from next week.

Precious Angels Office Hours are 8:30am – 4:30pm Monday to Friday. If the office is closed, please contact the afterhours number (0421 521 750). The afterhours phone is shared between Amanda during the week and Kayla on weekends.

Mackay Office Number (07) 4846 1964. Mackay Afterhours number 0493 248 053.

Love our service? - If so, we'd appreciate leaving us a review on Google. Also, we will be sending a survey out soon to all our families asking for feedback on Management, Administration and Support Workers in Brisbane and Mackay.

From the desk of Amanda:

A busy fortnight of training - medication administration and manual handling (and lots of other things) this week, and AAC/PODD training next week.

Staff social at SUNFLOWER House on Thursday 14 September. We will cook a barbeque and do some simple salads. Feel free to bring some goodies with you to share!

Christmas party for Staff is booked Friday 24 November at Eat Street, Hamilton from 5pm. We have booked a small function room. Partners (or a plus one) are welcome, but please make sure you let me know by 10 November if you will be attending.

Cathy and I are sincerely grateful to the amazing team of people who kept the home fires burning while we took much needed vacations - Dillon, Toni, Apple, Zena, Kayla and Rob, as well as all our support workers.

I am looking to recruit north of Brisbane river - if you know any amazing people looking to work on the north side, please ask them to call or email ASAP. We don't really have a north side presence, and I think its time we started to look at annexing the north.

@The Castle

What a lovely time we've been having.

Celebrating Ethan's birthday, book week, cute chicks, flying drones and ball pit offensives!

The participant's are full of life and we have a lot of fun keeping up with them and engaging them in a whole variety of sensory play! Can you spot the Titan?

@The Henhouse

We had a lovely pet project at The Castle this fortnight.

Chickens!

We watched as 12 chicks hatched from their eggs and foraged in their enclosure, watching them grow over the past week and its been adorable.

Everyone loved having the chicks around and we taught the participants about the chicken life cycle and of course gave them some time to pat and play with them.

Enjoy some of the moments we captured.

Out with the Angels

We love having our participants out and about and experiencing the world with us.

We visited South Bank and rode the Wheel of Brisbane, went bowling, Caleb went for his first flight to Sydney, Finn gave archery a go at Scouts, visited SWARA and explored the library too!

Photo of the Week

A cute group shot during our South Bank trip, all geared up and exploring Brisbane with our youngest carer-in-training, Jack. :)
